We're hiring a Head of Sales & Marketing at Free The Sea.
What Free The Sea does
We are on a mission to prevent plastic entering the ocean by creating waste management infrastructure in underserved coastal communities in Indonesia, collecting plastic directly from households and re-routing it away from the sea
We're not a corporate. We're not a startup chasing metrics. We're a team that genuinely cares about the ocean, about the communities connected to it, and about doing things the right way. If that resonates with you, keep reading.
About the role
We're looking for a Head of Sales & Marketing who is equal parts thinker and doer — someone who can set the direction and roll up their sleeves to make it happen. A real player-coach.
You'll own both functions end to end: building the brand and closing the business. You'll drive revenue across our Impact Partnerships (corporate sponsorships and philanthropic partnerships) and our recycled & upcycled products offtake channels. You'll work closely with our existing marketing team and regional sales managers.
This is not a role for someone who needs a big budget or a perfectly defined brief. It's for someone who thrives in meaningful, hands-on environments where creativity and commercial impact go hand in hand.
What you will own
— Brand stewardship - keeping Free The Sea's identity consistent, sharp, and unmistakably ours
— People-first storytelling - campaigns and content with real humans at the centre
— Inbound lead generation - systems and content that attract the right partners and buyers organically
— Impact Partnership sales - B2B outreach and closing across corporate sponsors and philanthropic partners
— Product offtake sales - building commercial relationships for recycled and upcycled products
— Marketing and sales strategy — owning the roadmap and connecting everything back to impact

Why us?
Who we are?
Free The Sea is on a mission to prevent plastic entering the ocean by creating waste management infrastructure in underserved coastal communities in Indonesia, collecting plastic directly from households and re-routing it away from the sea
We're a growing organization in the sustainability and ocean conservation space, and we're entering one of the most exciting chapters yet: a full rebrand, a new website, and a bigger vision for impact.
We're not a corporate. We're not a startup chasing metrics. We're a team that genuinely cares about the ocean, about the communities connected to it, and about doing things the right way. If that resonates with you, keep reading.
What you get?
How to Apply?
Skip the generic cover letter. Send us three things:
1. Why Free The Sea specifically - not sustainability in general, us.
2. A brand story, campaign, or content piece you're proud of - and why it worked.
3. A deal or commercial relationship you helped build - walk us through it.
4. What people-first marketing means to you in practice.
Make it feel like you. We'll notice.
